"Irish Research - Getting Started"
If I had had a pound for every time someone tells me they can't research their Irish ancestry because "the records were all burned in 1922", then I would be a rich woman. There are some great online resources, mostly free, that can get your family tree back into the early decades of the 19th century. This talk aims to provide a good foundation for starting out on your Irish research by having a simple plan for working across the most important record sources.
Lots of practical advice, colourfully illustrated via examples from my own family tree.

"Irish Research - Getting your bearings"
Figuring out where our ancestors actually lived can often be one of the biggest challenges in family history, especially if you are unfamiliar with the history and geography of a country other than your own. This talk specifically focuses on the differently named layers of the Irish landscape and how to use them to search more cleverly within related sets of records.
Several online resources, rich with maps, are highlighted to help you picture the places your Irish ancestors called home. Hopefully, this might even inspire you to unfurl the maps as a first step in your quest, rather than diving head first into the databases?
